Educated at St Martins School of Art and the National Film and Television School, Joanna Woodward (JoWonder) is an influential stopmotion animator, performance artist, and painter. JoWonder believes that the artist has magical powers, she breathes life and story into objects via painted animation.

Her best known work is a study of Ophelia painted in bacteria which made the piece, literally live. Her more recent work, very often triptych, diptych or paintings in groups, are like mexican miracle paintings or Infinitas Gracias, offering resolution or new perspective to invented linear narratives. Founder of the organisation 'British Women Artists', JoWonder has won numerous awards".
